To take control over Kent production Lorillard company was registered in 1963. A brand new plant was built in Ettelbruck to produce just Kent cigarettes. This plant used to be the one of the most up to date European tobacco factories with over 94% of production shipped abroad mainly to Italy, Benelux and France . The mark of Kent cigarettes was produced in 1952 in the USA during the period when cigarettes with filters started to be more and more popular. In 1972 the factory in Ettelbruck was enlarged as at that moment Kent brand also was becoming popular in Europe as well. The cigarette production came to the level of one billion cigarettes per year in 1992. And that number produced one factory only. Now Kent cigarettes are sold to the smokers in more than 71 countries all around the world. They have the firm growing popularity in Russia where it's the top brand for selling.
Every 4th premium cigarette that is sold is Kent. Now British American Tobacco is the owner of Kent cigarettes. It was signed a ten-year licensing agreement with HvL in 1992 that considered the marketing and production of the brand. Later after purchasing HvL BAT regained all its stocks, personnel, equipment, all brands. Kent advertisements is considered its strongest feature and it is based on the special filtering system. Nowadays are not exceptions. Kent products still have positions of easy and mild in smoking.
